Captain Onyegbulam Cosmos who was also the man of the match, massively bailing out his side defensively yesterday, fell to the ground and broke down in tear after the game explained the reason for his act.
“Our joy knows no bounds and you can see the celebration as every victory counts in football no matter the stage. It’s really massive and awesome for us and we thank God we got to this stage,” he told Sports247.
The team showed cohesiveness in the game to soak up pressure for their opponents and come out with the win and the skipper explained the influence of new coach Olayinka Adiro in grinding out the result.
“Our new coach joining us is a big plus for us because everything he impacted in us is a plus. From the training, tactics, coaching style, he has been massive for us. We did everything he told us to do, go out, get the goal and retain, prevent the opponent from breaking through once you get the goal and you can win the game,” Cosmos said.
The captain explained the team’s desire to emerge champions of the FA Cup in their first season participating.
“There are no two ways about it, we want to emerge champions of this edition of the Lagos FA Cup as a matter of fact,” he concluded.
