Lagos FA Cup: Bucknor Boss Eyes Q-Final Stage

Team Manager of Bucknor Football Club, Habeeb Abidemi Adewale has revealed that their target is to reach the quarter-final stage in the forthcoming Winners Golden Bet Lagos State Challenge Cup scheduled to hold this week.

Bucknor FC would face an uphill task as they confront LSDPC next Thursday at Epe. The encounter promises to be explosive as both teams have football pedigree in the state.

Bucknor are one of the 84 teams participating in the state challenge cup. Presently the club is participating in the Alimosho league as a preparatory ground for Lagos FA Cup.

Adewale in a chat with our correspondent said he has not promised his fans to win FA Cup but the team’s target is to reach the quarter-final stage.

“We are not among the favorite clubs that would win Lagos FA Cup but we are a formidable team that can cause upset for big teams. We are coming to the competition as a rooky team. We have set a target for ourselves and our target is to be among the last eight teams of the competition,” he said.

Commenting on their match against LSDPC, Adewale said the game would be tough but boasted that he has a team that can go all the way to the last eight of the tournament. He admitted that LSDPC are formidable but warned them to prepare for war when both clash next Thursday.

Meanwhile the title sponsor, Winners Golden Bet has announced the sum of 1million naira for the winners with a giant trophy, while the first runner-up would go home with the sum of N500,000 in the male category.

In the female category, winners would pocket the sum of N500, 000, while the first runner up would receive N300, 000. All the quarter-finalists would be kitted by the title sponsor in the quarter-final stage.

Eight four teams are expected to participate in this year’s Lagos FA Cup in the male category, while ten teams registered in the female category. The much anticipated annual football competition would kick off this weekend in Epe and Ajegunle before.
