With the regular season across all leagues in the country on break, numerous preseason tourneys have been taking place in order to put the teams into shape as they prepare for the new season and a huge one set up by HUK sports Management is set to take place soon.
Sixty-four teams are set to face off in the rewarding Champions Soccer Fiesta with numerous cash rewards, awards as well as opportunities to market players to top clubs in Europe through active partnerships and broadcast deals.
Speaking to Sports247, the Secretary of HUK Sports Management Ken Maduabuchi explained the organization and plans the group has set for the competition which they hope to be very fun-filled and well as fulfilling.
“The competition is put together by HUK Sports Management group in conjunction with Oppo sports management limited with the idea of bringing together top clubs across Lagos states, provide an avenue to remain competitive till the year runs out as the regular season has ended,” Ken said.
“It will involve 64 teams, with playoff categories, a round of 32, 16 teams left then collapse into 4 groups of 4 teams each and the main competition begins then into the quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final itself,” he added.
On the awards and prizes for the winners, the secretary said, “the winner takes 200,000 Naira while the runner-up receives 100,000 Naira. Other individual awards will be awarded to the Most Valuable Player, best goalkeeper, highest goal scorer and the fair play award for the best-behaved team.”
The competition is set to hold in Lagos next month between the 15th of November and the 10th of December as it’s also an avenue for teams to promote and expose their players.
“We’re trying to bring in local and international scouts which is why we partnered with Oppo sports management limited who are renowned in the transfer of a lot of big names in Nigerian football across Europe with other companies showing interest,” Ken said.
“We’re also in partnership with Sports247 to ensure that all games are streamed live across the world, it’s like never before in Lagos, it’s going to be the best and we intend to continue with it even after this first edition,” he concluded.
