Sunshine Queens Head Coach, Tayo Onilude has said her side were in the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) to prepare for the forthcoming Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.
Onilude said this in her post-match interview with newsmen after her team had defeated Confluence Queens 1-0 on day 2 of the competition.
Sunshine Queens midfielder, Taiwo Ajibade’s lone goal was enough for the team to carry a maximum of three points in the 28th minute to have a maximum of three points in the Group C encounter.
Onilude, who added that her team would not underrate any opponent, assured followers that the team was not also in the tournament for the fun of it, but to win the competition.
“I thank God for the victory, my girls played the instructions and that’s what gave us the victory. By God’s grace, we are winning our next match against Kaduna Queens and we will be on top of the table,” she said.
Onilude, when asked why such level of confidence, said: “I am not underrating any team, after all, we are all in the premier league together, meanwhile football is a dynamic game, and am sure with the caliber of players I have here, we will win our next game.”
Sunshine Queens plays Kaduna Queens on Wednesday, at UNIBEN Sports Complex, in a postponed matchday one encounter of the tournament.
