Head coach of Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens, Damilare Jaiyeola has confessed that his team are not among the favourite teams that would win Flying Officers Cup scheduled to hold next month in Abuja.
Jaiyeola disclosed this after his team walloped Yaba Technical College, female football team 3-1 in a friendly match played recently at the school sports complex, Yaba, Lagos.
The friendly match was organized to keep the girls in good shape ahead of Flying Officers Cup. Jaiyeola who was not satisfied with the victory recorded against Yabatec said the Abuja tournament would help him to expose his girls to the world and bring some of them to the limelight.
“We are not going to Flying Officers Cup as a favourite or win it but we are going there to give my players needed exposure and bring some of them to the limelight. The competition would also give my players an ample opportunity to market themselves and I hope two or three players may get offers from big clubs at the end of the competition,” he said.
On the other hand, the coach of Yabatec, Mathew Dafe said despite his team’s defeat, he was satisfied with his girl’s performance. He said the friendly match was part of the team’s preparation ahead of the South West mini Olympic Games scheduled for next month in Abeokuta.
Meanwhile, Eletu Queens opened the goal account in the 26th minute through a header from Awoniyi Blessing. The Eletu Queens who controlled the encounter got the second goal through Igbinovia Victoria in the 36th minute to silence the home fans.
The second half started on a good note for Eletu Queens as Igbinovia scored through free-kick to make it the third goal. The Yabatec team who lacked finishing in the front of the goal got a consolatory goal via Adunola Adekoya to end the pulsating tie 3-1 in favour of Eletu Queens.
