KG Sports Academy will return to Ughelli this weekend in Search of Glory 2 months after the U17 Side lost in the semi-finals of the Interstate Cup lossing to Excelent 4-3 on penalty after a 2-2 draw at full time.
This time around the KG Sports Foundation All Stars will be joining 31 other teams for the inaugural edition of the Niger Delta Coaches Championship.
The Agbor Based Academy are the only team from Delta North in the competition which Director Dr Ken Gadaffi sees as a big challenge.
” We are the pride of Agbor and to now go further to seek glory in Delta State is a big challenge for an.Academy that is only under 1 year old, However we will face it with pride” the erudite Sports Administrator stated.
KG Sports Academy won the Foundation Cup In June and have maintained a 5 game unbeaten run going into the Niger Delta Coaches Championship as they prepare to take on Lisbon FC of Abraka on Sunday 1st August.
KG Sports on Friday 23rd defeated Mighty Wanderers Abraka 4-3 at the Agbor Township Stadium and Director Ken Gadaffi played down the victory as just a warm up.
“We have won 3 matches and drew 1 in the last one month of preparations, the team is growing in confidence but then we are aware of the challenge ahead as this tournament is a straight Knockout and so you cannot afford to draw but go all out to win” he stated.
The KG Boys will depart Agbor on Saturday 31st July and play their first match on Sunday 1st against Lisbon FC Abraka at the Ughelli Township Stadium. Kick off is 3pm.
