The second season of the Craig Super 8 league is set to kick off this July in Ilaro, Ogun State as teams join the race to have the opportunity to play good football in a private league and have an opportunity to be seen globally by scouts.
The Craig Super 8 league was said to have been birthed after the participation of Craig Soccer School in the State League. Speaking to Sports247, Zion Majeck, coach of Craig Soccer School Ilaro explained the reason for the creation of the league and what they hope to achieve this season.
“The idea came up after our academy got involved in the state league and in the division into groups, our group happened to be poorly attended with only about three teams showing up out of six. We ended up playing about two games while other groups played about 4-5 and we did not enjoy it. So, we thought why not create a private league and invite teams, especially those who didn’t have ample time to play in the state league to come to enjoy themselves and it was very successful in season one with two teams from Benin and Delta which motivated us,” Zion said.
“This season two, with the help of Sports247 we’re looking to see if we can add some exposure to the event through live stream and we can start inviting agents, scouts, and club managers from all over the world to watch and see if they might find a gifted or talented player in the competition,” Zion added.
“We already have a team from Jos, another from Kaduna showing interest in the league. Others come from Ibadan and Lagos and it’s going to be a very fantastic one,” he concluded.
The Craig Super 8 league will run for a period of 3 days from the 28th to 30th July 2021 in Ilaro, Osun State.
