The Nigeria Men’s Basketball Team caused a major upset by beating the United States in a pre-Olympics game on Saturday night in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay Arena.
Led by Gabe Vincent’s 21 points, and 4 assists, D’Tigers defeated the USA Olympic Dream Team 90-87. Caleb Agada scored 17 points and Ike Nwamu added 13 in the victory.
The Nigerian team includes Precious Achiuwa of the Miami Heat, Al-Farouq Aminu of the Chicago Bulls, Chimezie Metu of the Sacramento Kings, Josh Okogie of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Miye Oni of the Utah Jazz.
The U.S’s roster included superstars the nature of Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, Damian Lillard, and Jayson Tatum.
Nigeria makes history and becomes the first African team to win the U.S. Many have described the outcome as one of the greatest upsets in international basketball history.
Nigeria faces Argentina on Monday in Las Vegas in their next preparation game before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics begins.
