Sunshine Queens FC of Akure on Sunday thrashed Beautiful Tours of Abuja 0-6 in the round one encounter of the Women’s Aiteo Cup.
The match, which was played at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, had the Tayo Onilude-tutored side setting the ball rolling in the first minute through forward, Seun Fakunle, who scored the first goal of the encounter.
Sunshine Queens had two goals in quick succession through another player, Effion Ekeng in the 21st and 24th minute to make the scoreline 0-3.
Ayuba Aleri later increased the scoreline for Betty Babes to take the game 0-4 into the half.
Queens’ striker Nkor Blessing, who seemed to have a silent game, had other ideas by banging home two goals in the 73rd and 75th minutes respectively, to end the game 0-6.
Sunshine Queens Head Coach Tayo Onilude, said she was excited to have won her first competitive game in charge of the team.
Onilude also thanked the management and supporters for the support and belief that the team would survive.
