Rangers International of Enugu forward, Kelvin Itoya has disclosed that character and determination helped The Flying Antelopes overcome the threat of Ethiopia’s Defence Force SC in the CAF Champions League.
After securing a 3-1 away victory during Wednesday’s second leg of their preliminaries’ round tie in Addis Ababa, to seal a 5-1 aggregate win, Itoya said The Coal City side deserved their qualification.
Itoya, who scored Ranger’s third goal in the midweek clash, further revealed that special focus by their coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, on the team’s attack prior to the match paid off eventually.
Itoya disclosed: “Our coach recalled that we struggled with goal scoring issue in two games before Wednesday’s game.
“With that in mind, he detailed us to watch our attacking styles and goals scoring abilities, which eventually paid off.
“I can say it was through God’s help, plus sheer character and high level of determination that we were able to win away and qualify.”
