The resignation of Coach Shariff Abd’Allah as Wikki Tourists FC gaffer has since been accepted by the Club and the Club has since moved on with its preparations for the task ahead.
What baffles us is the accusation/claims by somebody close to the former Coach according to this report citing interference and some other issues as reasons for his resignation.
That we believe is an act of cowardice on the part of the Coach who has been in the Club for the last 16months or so and could not complain until now when it becomes obvious that he is taking the Club to relegation and decided to abandon his job probably to avoid embarrassment.
Since coming to Wikki Tourists Abd’Allah has been given free hand to operate particularly in the selection of those he wants to work with as Technical Crew and even players.
It is on record that Abd’Allah single-handedly brought an assistant and also a goalkeeper trainer despite the fact that the Club has two national team goalkeeper trainers.
Players signed during the transfer window were on the advice of the former Technical Adviser and nobody has ever interfered in his team selection.
On the issue of players motivation, we believe that Wikki Tourists FC is one of the clubs in Nigeria that considers players Welfare as Paramount, we aware that as of today some club’s have not paid players salaries for three to four months, while Wikki Tourists FC is not owing to any player any outstanding salary despite the financial situations in the country.
Players and Coaches are paid match bonus only when they win or draw games and so far Wikki Tourists have won 5matches at home and 3away draws which means that they are entitled to 8match bonuses and so far 6match bonuses have been settled and efforts are on to settle the remaining balance of 2matches.
Abd’Allah Shariff should have appreciated Wikki Tourists FC for providing him with a job when he was jobless sacrificing his son who was TA at that time with the Promise that he will get the team out of its problem then but instead, he has worsened the situation.
We believe no club could have tolerated this Performance for this long that Wikki Tourists did.
We all knew what happened in his former club Enyimba FC and the circumstances that led to his ouster.
In as much as we don’t want to join issues with Abd’Allah Shariff over his resignation, however, we can’t just fold our arm and watch him tarnish our image with falsehood.
