“It was keenly contested. Just as you know the rivalry between Edo and Delta and continued here. We’ll take it like that as it’s football, you win some and you lose some. This is our first game and we can still qualify as the top two, there’s still a big chance for us to qualify,” coach Stanley Osaze Francis of Edo Queens told Sports247 after losing narrowly to Delta Queens and Sunshine Queens.
It was the battle of the Queens, not in Queensland but in Ijebu Ode as Edo Queens were slightly beaten by Delta Queens and Sunshine Queens in their first two games of the Nigeria Women’s Football League Super Six playoff in a bid to provide the league winner and provide a representative for the first CAF Women’s Champions League from Nigeria.
Speaking on the ability to turn things around and making changes to the team selection, the coach of Edo Queens Stanley said, “that’s the beauty of the round-robin, we grow with each game. We’ve seen our fault today and we hope to get it better against FC Robo Queens.”
“But there’s room for improvement, especially from the match officials. There were some questionable calls, maybe it’s a human error but we’ll just take it like that,” the coach added.
