Super Falcons Still Africa’s Top Team In Rankings

Nigeria’s female football squad, Super Falcons remain top among Africa’s women teams, but down in 38th position on the global scales, according to latest rankings by world soccer governing body, FIFA.

Nigeria’s team are still number one in the continent, though the African champions have been largely inactive this year, and they will seek to defend their Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) title from November 17 to December 1 in Ghana.

Incidentally, Ghana are Africa’s number two and 47th in the world, down one spot on the ranking table, while Cameroon are third in the continent and 49th in the world.

The continent’s other top ten ranked sides are South Africa (4th, 50th in the world), Equatorial Guinea (5th, 54th), Cote d’ Ivoire (6th, 69th), Morocco (7th, 78th), Algeria (8th, 80th), Senegal (9th, 85th) and Mali (10th, 89th).

USA are unchanged as the world’s best ranked women’s football national side, while Germany, England, France, Canada, Australia, Japan, Brazil, Sweden and Netherlands make up the top ten ranked sides in the world.
