The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will on Saturday, 27th March organize a one-day event to mark the 2021 International Women’s Month.
The one-day event is being coordinated by NFF Head of Women’s Football Department, Amina Sani Zangon Daura in celebration of women’s vital role and their diverse achievements through football.
The event scheduled to take place at the FIFA Goal Project facility inside the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Complex Package B, will bring together major women’s football stakeholders in the country, including the staff of the NFF and top government officials.
In her words, Daura, who was Nigeria’s representative in the recently concluded three-day virtual CAF Women’s Football Workshop said: “We want to use the occasion to join the rest of the world to raise awareness against bias and help forge a better future through football.
“While celebrating the achievements of women, we choose to challenge violence and abuse of women, demand that female child education is a priority, stop the abduction of female students in schools and uplift the life of the girl child from the grassroots level.”
During the programme, a novelty match will be played between two Abuja-based female teams. Attendance will be strictly by invitation in compliance with the authorities’ strict COVID-19 regulations.
