“I want to win a maximum of fifteen points from our last five games,” were the exact words of coach Akinyelu Olajide of Gbagada FC after the team finally picked its first win of the Nationwide League One season on matchday four.
Four games down the road and it’s twelve out of twelve points with one game left. Looking like we can call Akinyelu the ‘talk and do’ coach. Speaking to Sports247 the coach explained that his team always finds it difficult to start competitions well.
“We don’t always plan to leave it late and it’s something we’re looking into. We start competitions very slow and we gain momentum as the games go by and we’re hoping to fix that real soon. But it’s football, the main thing is that we plan to finish well and we’re on course to do that,” Akinyelu said.
The coach also praised the effort of the TCC League teams who have made the league proud in their respective centers with Ijebu United winning their group and gaining promotion to the Nigeria National League, Gbagada and Iganmu FC certain of finishing in the top four of theirs and Valiant FC also doing well in their group.
How however didn’t fail to mention the impact the TCC League had on his team particularly. “It’s a good NLO season for the TCC teams and we believe the TCC has actually helped us so much especially my team. I can confirm that the games at TCC helped us be in this great form and finishing very well,” the coach said.
