Failing to pick the promotion ticket from their group might seem disappointing but that was not the mood of Abdulfatai Abdulwahab, coach of Imperial FC expresses satisfaction in the league experience.
“It’s a great experience for these young guys. Now they know football is not all about “I just want to play”, it’s a business. I always told them before the league started that football is a business but they thought they were still playing the Principal’s Cup until they got here to see the difference,” Abdulfatai said.
“Luckily for us, we were able to remain in the league without relegating. We won, drew, and lost some, tasting it all and I believe by this time next year in the NLO, these youngsters will play differently entirely,” he added.
The coach also went on to congratulate his TCC League colleague, Ijebu United FC who picked the NNL ticket from their group for their Promotion to the higher league. He also acknowledged the good job done by the management to reshuffle their team in preparation for the league and also hinted that quite a lot of scouts and clubs are trying to get the signatures of most of their boys and the coach is satisfied with the outcome of the league. “Mission accomplished” he called it.
