Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) first vice-president, Barrister Seyi Akinwumi has hailed what he called the spirited efforts of the female national team, Super Falcons’ players in winning their ninth title.
In the wake of Saturday’s Africa Women Cup of Nations final, in which the Falcons required penalties to edge aside a stubborn South African side, Akinwunmi told sports247.ng that it was the Nigerian side’s fighting spirit that made a difference on the evening in Accra, Ghana.
Akinwunmi further stated that everyone at the NFF is very elated for the spirited effort of the Nigerian women, and commended the squad for a job well done.
He declared: “I love the way the Super Falcons fought very hard, even when the opponents were tighter than expected.
“We are all happy for what they have done. I only hope that the win in Ghana will rub off positively on Nigerian football in general.
“That is what we want top see from all our teams. I hope we will see them follow this example of determination to succeed against all odds.”
