In a week that happened so fast, the Adamawa United team got attacked by bandits on their way to Lagos to honor their matchday eleven fixture against MFM FC and they were robbed at gunpoint, with their driver taken away by the robbers, the team still made way to continue their journey to honor the game.
“We played the game for our driver who was abducted, we played the game because of what we went through and for all the Adamawa United fans over the world,” said a rather lowly Coach Zakka of Adamawa United even as the driver has not been released by the abductors.
Adamawa United lost the game 2-0 to home side MFM FC and the loss further cemented their position at the bottom of the table of the NPFL but the coach has stated that he is working so hard with his team to avoid relegation.
“The only thing we did was to talk to the players, explaining that it’s destiny. The attack was actually around quarter to 7 pm so it’s not like a late night and the players understood that in Nigerian set up there is no way to avoid such things due to the security challenges. Because of the fatigue and the loss of concentration, we lost the game.
