Francisca Ordega has insisted that the Super Falcons’ main aim is not to win the Turkish Women’s Cup but rather to build a team going forward.
“The spirit among the group is high. We know we are here not really for the cup but we want to win,” Ordega disclosed to Sports247.
The Nigerian women’s national team overcame CSKA Moscow 1-0 in their first game of the tournament.
Ordega, the assistant captain of the side continued that the tourney is an opportunity for the group to blend under the guidance of the new technical crew and personnel.
“It’s a kind of a build-up tournament for us because we have a lot of new faces, new coach, new technical crew and all that.
“Hence it’s just for us to blend. It’s been a long time, a year and. So I think that’s the most important thing and that is what we have in our heads.
“For us to blend together, play as a team. Then if eventually, we win, it’s fine but that is not really our goal.”
