Plateau United Captain Shows Love On Valentine’s Day

Lovers of good football will be fed to the brim today as the final of the Pankshin 2020 Football Tournament takes center stage.

The competition, sponsored and put together by the Captain of NPFL side, Plateau United, Elisha Golbe, will see some of the best grassroots teams on the Plateau, Vel Arsenal and Yimtul United FC, both based in Pankshin, in Pankshin local government area of Plateau State lock horns for the ultimate prize.

Chief Coach of Vel Arsenal FC, Polit Monday Gowon, who came all the way from Pankshin to Jos and defeated highly-rated sides like Bitrus Bewarang FA, Jazzy Stars FA, and Faith Alive FA to win the Plateau State Super League in 2016, said, although his team is picked as the favorites to win the first edition of this tournament, Yimtul FC is no pushover, but his boys are highly motivated to win the trophy and cart home the ultimate prize.

The Chief Coach of Yimtul United FC, Murtala Ibrahim Deshi on his own part, believes history is nothing compared to its current form.

According to him “My team might be underrated, but we will surprise everybody by beating Vel Arsenal. My boys have trained hard and we are ready for the challenge.”

The donor and brain behind this competition, Elisha Golbe, said this is one little way in giving back to his community by giving the gifted youths the opportunity of showcasing their talents to the numerous scouts, coaches, and agents on the ground for opportunities to play professionally home and abroad.

The Plateau United captain, popularly called Captain Fantastic continues “What a day to reciprocate in this little way the love showered on me by my people, and having the final on Valentine’s day makes it more special and interesting.”

It would be recalled that both Vel Arsenal FC and Yimtul FC didn’t taste defeat all the way to the final after both played seven matches each!

But the question on everybody’s lips is:
Which of the two teams will finish the first edition of this competition without tasting defeat?
90mins or the luxury of penalty kicks(if no winner emerges in the regulation time) will tell.

The final match, which will be played at the GSS Bet Pankshin Football pitch, Pankshin, Pankshin local government council, will kick start by 2 pm.
