Imperial FC crashed out of The Creative Championship Cup over the weekend after a 1-1 draw with Gbagada FC in Lagos which saw them lose 2-1 on aggregate.
Chidera Ezeno, Imperial FC’s playmaker, spoke to Sports247 after the game and praised his side’s performance.
“Though we’re not happy with the draw, we’re still a young team that is building and we need wins to encourage us. I have to commend my teammates, it’s not easy but we’ve been doing a very fantastic job,” he said.
He also likes his coach, did not fail to condemn the officiating in the game. “Coming to Agege to pick a point, you can see we’re getting better though we’re not happy with the result, as, for the officiating, it was crazy. He gave away multiple things, the penalty calls and the ones he dismissed. Football is a game of contact, you don’t touch someone and they go down cheaply and you give it. It kills the morale of the team,” he added.
Imperial FC next face Gbagada again, this time in the TCC League as they look to lift themselves off the bottom of the league.
