The NWFL was shut down due to certain Covid-19 protocol issues but the Chairperson of the League, Aisha Falode, has since announced the resumption of the league from Matchday five on the 10th of February, 2021.
Players and coaches alike, have shared their thoughts and expressed their joy over the resumption of the league.
“I’m very happy that the league is returning. We’ve missed playing matches and I believe our team is ready, we’re ready,” said Omosuyi Ayo, Ibom Angels Attacker.
“We have been training hard since the league was on hold, because of our last mistake, our coach has been training us hard. We are playing Rivers Angels next and we need the point and I’m sure we’re going to win,” she added.
Omosuyi Ayo also added that her target is to carry her team, help them as they play well and hope to get into the top position of the league as soon as possible.
Ibom Angels have managed only 4points from their opening four games of the season. An opening matchday 1-0 loss to Osun Babes FC at home, a 1-1 draw in Matchday two against Pelican Stars FC away from home, a 2-1 matchday three win at home over Royal Queens FC and a matchday four 3-2 loss to Dream Stars FC.
They travel to face an in-form Rivers Angels who have managed 8points from their opening four fixtures with two wins and two draws as well as holding the highest number of goals scored by a side in the NWFL this season after they put six past Delta Queens FC to win 6-2 on match day.
