All players and officials of Gateway United FC have tested negative for Covid-19 after the results of the tests conducted at the Club Secretariat, MKO Abiola Int’l Stadium, Abeokuta on Monday January 25th, 2021 were released.
Speaking on the clean health bill, Acting General Manager, Niyi Soleye, who received the result described it as a morale booster ahead of the Season, while urging players and officials to continually follow the COVID-19 protocols.
“We thank Ogun State Government for coming to our aid with the test. It is a pointer to our readiness to hit the ground running. Nevertheless, I have advised the players not to be complacent. We all have to continue obeying all stipulated guidelines pertaining to Covid-19 especially washing of hands and masking up when in public”
Also speaking, the Team Manager,Dare Osunsanya, implored the players and officials not to drop the ball but to adhere strictly to the dos and don’ts of the Club.
” Of course, it’s a piece of cheering news but due to the contagious nature of the virus, we have always ensured maximum adherence to Covid-19 regulations in camp, training, and friendlies alike. Our preparation for the new season has been going on unabatedly despite the postponement. Now we have set our gaze on Wednesday, February 3rd NNL kickoff.
“The Team is in high spirit, the Technical Crew and backroom staff are ever ready, and our supporters are solidly behind us. With Governor Dapo Abiodun led Government stoutly behind us, we are ready to go. All we want is for our result to speak for us and that we are working towards”
Gateway United will trade tackles with Joy Cometh FC of Ikorodu at the Agege Stadium on Wednesday February 3rd, 2021 at 4pm barring any unforeseen circumstances.
