Coach of Enyimba Fc, Fatai Osho has admitted that EL Meirreikh’s early goal really unsettled his team, after their 4-2 aggregate defeat to the Sudanese giants on Wednesday in the return leg of their CAF Champions League clash.
The Peoples Elephant conceded a goal as early as the 5th minute of the game through Saif Terry, who had also scored an Hatrick in the first leg between these two sides, before scoring twice on their own through a brace from Mbaoma in the 14th and 51st minutes of the game to give Enyimba a 2-1 win on the day.
Despite the win, the Aba giants were still eliminated from the competition with a 4-2 aggregate defeat to the Sudanese giants, which now demotes them to the CAF Confederation Cup.
Reacting after the game with Sports247, Coach Fatai Osho has admitted that conceding the first goal so early in the game really unsettled his team, as they tried a lot to curtail the strength and abilities of Saif Terry, who was a menace to them throughout both legs. He also stated that blames should be apportioned to him, not the players, even though he believes that his team should have done more in the encounter.
“It’s quite clear that the early goal really unsettled us. Looking at the first leg, the Terry guy (Saif Terry), their number 9 did a lot of work and we know his strength and abilities and we tried to curtail him. It’s quite disappointing to us. It’s not really a good thing when you lose to start apportioning blames to the players, I don’t do that, but I believe we could have done much more better. That goal really unsettled us, imagine where that goal never was, we have two goals and are looking for one goal to stretch the game, that could have been much easier for us. It’s been a bad one and it’s unfortunate that we won, but didn’t qualify”, he added.
Following the defeat to El Meireikh, Fatai Osho’s side will now play in the CAF Confederation Cup.
