The Rivers State Commissioner of Sports Hon. Boma Iyaye has commended the former Chairman of PDP Bro. Felix Obuah for redeeming his pledge to the players and officials of Rivers United for defeating their CAF Confederation Cup opponents Bloemfontein Celtic and scoring two goals away from home.
While receiving the pledge on behalf of the team, Hon Boma Iyaye thanked the proprietor of Go Round football club and promised that the “Pride of Rivers” is motivated by this gesture and will certainly encourage the team to do more.
“I must commend Bro Felix Obuah for his magnanimity and support. He has always identified with Rivers United and we are happy that he continues to motivate the team.
What he has done will go a long way to further complement the efforts of our number one supporter, Governor Nyesom Wike in motivating Rivers United to achieve more successes.
Our dear Governor Nyesom Wike is also enthusiastic to see sports occupy the number one spot in the state and he is demonstrating it with deeds, actions, and words.
As a government, we welcome all interventions in sports promotion, administration, and equipment donations. We are ready to partner all those who love sports development in the state.
We want to assure Rivers people and Nigerians that we will give the CAF Confederation Cup our best shot with the belief of winning the ultimate prize.”
