By Ms. Irene Joseph Magebo PRINCIPAL, KITC
When I was growing up as a little girl, my imagination of a “HERO” was someone who leads people irrespective of gender, class, crid, faith and color to safety and success. I thought of a HERO as the leading light.
When I went to college, my feelings and thoughts about Heros changed into someone who would guarantee safety and save LIVES.My feelings and thoughts as a family girl who worship God, helping thy neighbors and assisting downtroddens and destitutes, little did I know that I would be working with such a great human being.
When I joined the Kilimanjaro Information Technology College (KITC) as the Head of ICT Department after my completion at my alma mater, the Stefano Moshi Memorial University College (SMMUCO), I met a MAN who ordinarily was charming, assuring and gentle. None other than the founder and Executive Vice-President of the Kilimanjaro Information Technology College (KITC) Hon. Ky Col. Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi who completely changed my understanding of a “HERO”.
Throughout my working time at KITC, I have never stopped being inspired by Hon. Ky Col Ngowi’s determination to help, train and improve people’s lives. He does this as he breathes the oxygen. It is through his sheer kindness and compassion to help others that the Governor of the State of Kentucky, in the USA H.E. Stephen Beshear bestowed him with the LIFETIME title of Kentucky Colonel (Ambassador of Goodwill of the Commonwealth of Kentucky hence his current title of “Hon. Ky Col”.)
His humanitarian works embolden his metaphor as a leader so, on August 11th, 2021 we celebrate the “Bronze Jubilee” of the KITC. Twenty-five (25) years since Hon. Ky Col Ngowi left his luxurious life in Denmark (Europe) to help establish the first ever private ICT institute in Tanzania, the KITC. This was incredible and given the fact that African continent missed the industrial revolution and much of the first wave of the ICT revolution, the establishment of the KITC came at the right moment in time.
While so much has changed over the years, Hon. Ky Col. Ngowi’s spirit, love, compassion, kindness and determination to change LIVES has not changed at all. He continues to inspire, encourage and help the marginalized so much that hundreds of underprivileged have been trained under his leadership and are now working or self employed. This is the HERO that I have always been fascinated with.
As the Principal of KITC, everyday I learn from his VAST experience and compassion. His massive charms in making friends and attracting support have made him the household name in the world. Hon. Ky Col. Ngowi is more than a CEO, he is leading a movement for economic development that will yield a positive return for the entire continent of Africa.
Throughout his life, he has always been on the side of the downtrodden despite the fact that he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and grew up in a stable middle class family in Moshi. His unquestionable integrity and exuberance in turning foes into friends turned him into a folklore as he creates lots of supporters who have constantly supported his ideas and aspirations.
Working alongside Hon. Ky Col. Ngowi has happened to be one of the best decisions I have made in my life because as I joined the KITC community I started receiving positive changes in my entire life. I still see all that is happening in my life as something very magical, because it took just a few months after joining KITC and I got connected to great minds. With all these great achievements, I really want to let people know that one should try as much as possible to get connected with the right people in order to become successful in life.
Before I started working with Hon. Ky Col. Ngowi , I was actually locked up in my shell but I had hopes and God has done it for me by making the miracle through the KITC community. I’m really excited and I can’t stop appreciating Hon. Ky Col. Ngowi and my KITC family for being absolutely selfless and super supportive. At KITC we only move towards successful achievements and grow all together as a family. And I was told I have just taken a step. I have a whole lot coming.”
Now more than ever, it is an honor to work alongside this great HERO and our KITC’s colleagues every day to continue his mission of bringing people together to help others. From providing skills and technical education to thousands of marginalized youths in need in Tanzania, distributing books and learning materials to vulnerable children, to building careers of thousands of youths and so much more.
Will you send Hon. Ky Col Ngowi a NEW Year present by joining him to sponsor one magnalized girl child for the “GIRLS RISING” program in 2021″ and show him that you share his commitment to helping youths?
