Just a day after revealing his target of being included in the Super Eagles setup, Taiwo Awoniyi staked his claim with another strong performance.
The Nigerian forward opened the scoring for Union Berlin in their eventual 2-1 Bundesliga win over Borussia Dortmund on Friday night(18 Dec).
Awoniyi headed Berlin in front in the 57th after a corner kick was knocked to his part by Grischa Prömel. The goal is his fourth of the campaign.
Dortmund’s wonderkid Youssoufa Moukoko equalized for his side with a fine strike three minutes later.
Berlin got the winner with 12 minutes from time through Marvin Friedrich from another corner kick.
The win moves Union Berlin up to 5th in Bundesliga log with 21 points from 13 matches having played a game more ahead of Wolfsburg in 6th.
Awoniyi, on loan from Liverpool, has appeared 11 times for The Iron Ones so far this season with all coming in the league. All of his four goals have come from his last six matches.
