As the Kwara female six-a-side inter-secondary schools competition came to a close at the Kwara state stadium complex on Saturday 12th December 2020, with a final between St. Mary Secondary School and Ilorin Grammer School.
The anchor and custodian of women’s football in Kwara State, Alhaja Segilola Alaya has reeled out some of her plans and agenda for the development of women’s football.
Speaking in a parley with journalists at the closing ceremony of the inter-schools tournament which ended in St. Mary girls defeating their Ilorin Grammer School counterpart with a 2-1 scoreline, Alhaja Alaya appeals to parents and guardians to release and support their female children and wards to benefit from her lineup of programmes aimed at discovering new talents and overall football development in Kwara state.
Alhaja Alaya used the opportunity to thank her father “I am thankful to my father for encouraging me to participate in sporting activities while in secondary school” she also informed members of the press that she actively played volleyball during her school days.
When asked about her dream and plans for the development of female football in Kwara state, Alhaja Alaya stressed the fact that her agenda is to produce hundreds of talented players who will be better and greater than Azizat Oshoala. In conclusion, she thanked everyone who has supported her towards the success of the female six-aside inter-secondary schools competition.
