KG Sports Academy emerged champions of the Inaugural KG Foundation Cup with a 1-0 Win over Green Rangers on Wednesday.
33rd-minute strike from Captain Joseph Ukah was all the Academy boys needed to become champions against a hard-fighting Green Rangers side.
Green Rangers went into the finals with an unbeaten run from the Group stage with 2 Wins and 2 Draws while KG Sports Academy finished the group stage in 2nd place with 1 win, 2 draws and 1 lose.
Joseph Ukah came close twice to opening the score but Goalkeeper Francis thwarted his efforts.
KG Sports Continued to mount pressure with Marvelous Samuel and Emmanuel Emefiele in control of the midfield.
Emmanuel Emefiele’s Sublime Pass found Joseph Ukah who beat the offside trap to slot home for KG Sports Academy to take the lead into the Break.
KG Sports Academy pushes on after the break but Green Rangers held on. mesmerizing Utomi Godstime created a beautiful chance that fell for Tony Eseka but the striker shot wide.
Emmanuel Emefiele almost crowned his man of the match performance with a goal as his shot was parried onto the upright by enterprising Francis in Goal.
As the game wore on and Green Rangers pushed forward in search of the equalizer KG Sports defense marshaled by Destiny Uwezukwe and Joshua Moses held on.
Godstime Utomi was sent off in the dying minute for descent after kicking the ball out in frustration forcing KG Sports Academy to finish the tie with 10 men.

Nduka. O. Was awarded the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament as Justice Osas emerged the highest goal Scorer. Joseph Ukah got the cash award for his strike in the finals.
