Austin Tyowua, Media Officer Lobi Stars FC In Ijebu-Ode
As quarter-final matches at the ongoing Dapo Abiodun Pre-Season tournament take center stage today, November 22, favorites Lobi Stars of Makurdi will battle Remo Stars at 4 PM inside the main bowl of Dipo Dina International Stadium Ijebu-Ode.
Lobi Stars qualified after the second game and have been waiting for other quarter-finalists to emerge.
The Ortom boys confirmed superiority by amassing the maximum points from three group matches after convincing victories over Goddosky, MFM, and Crown FC.
Lobi Stars was the only club that recorded maximum points till Rivers United equaled the record yesterday in their last group game against another South-South team, Warri Wolves with a slim margin of 1-0.
On paper, Lobi Stars as potential champions of the tournament and should be able to make a light work of Remo Stars to reach the semis but football is not mathematics where one plus one automatically is two.
However, Remo Stars who are presently lowly rated both in general status and performance index in the tournament, having qualified for quarter-finals as eventual best losers with only 3 out of possible 9 points, shouldn’t pose a serious challenge for Lobi Stars who are shining so brightly at the moment.
The pride of Benue will file out with a winning mentality as they aim to maintain their unbeaten record so far achieved in Ijebu-Ode.
Speaking to Lobi Stars media, the Technical Adviser, Coach Kabiru Dogo reiterated the fact that, in as much as he is in Ijebu-Ode to prepare for the 2021 season, winning convincingly would be an indication that the Lobi Stars are set for the new season.
Consequently, he said his team is still looking forward to winning all its matches and will neither underrate nor overrate any opponent.
