Sports Philanthropist and Administrator, Dr. Ken Gadaffi Gabriel has said that Football If Properly Harnessed in Ika Will help curb Social Vices Among Youths in Agbor and the state at large.
Dr. Ken Gadaffi stated this while overseeing the ongoing KG Sports Foundation Cup Football Tournament at St Columbus Grammar School Agbor.
The Founder of KG Sports Academy and CEO of Sports Development and Empowerment Initiative (SDEI) explained that the Tournament has so far helped the youths in the area to turn away from Social Vices and begin to focus more on developing their talents in sports.
” When arrived here few months ago, I noticed that the school football ground has become a hub for young boys to gather and engage in Smoking and other acts that are not rewarding. Most turn to Internet crime popularly known and Yahoo Yahoo. But once we started the KG Sports Academy many joined and turned their back against such vices” He noted.
“The KG Sports Foundation Cup is organized among Youth teams from Onwundinjor Street, Agbor Obi and KG Sports Academy with over 100 players taking part” He added
“With many of the kids not able to afford the cost of enrolling into the academy, we offered them. the opportunity to still play competitive football through the foundation cup and these have continued to attract more young players to take to football” he enthused.
Dr. Ken Gadaffi who is also the Special Adviser to the Olympic Committee of Cambodia explained that Sports can be a tool in assisting the government to engage the youths as once they get busy with sports they would not have time to engage themselves in unruly behavior that will impact negatively on the society.
The Astute Sports Administrator promised to continue to look into other areas he can help support young people who want to engage in sports and it’s development in Agbor and the State apart from Football.
“We are not only focused on Football, I have noticed there are many young athletes with potential for Basketball, athletics, and other individual sports, KG Sports Foundation will provide the opportunity for these youths to actualize their dreams,” He said.
