All is set for the maiden edition of the Queens’ cup preseason tournament in Lagos. From the stable of Assamokee Sports Management, the tourney is to fine-tune and prepare the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) teams for the upcoming NWFL season.
The tourney which is slated between 24th-27th November 2020 at the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos is billed to have Dreamstar FC Ladies, FC Robo Queens, Osun Babes, and Sunshine Queens as participating teams.
The project director of Assamokee Sports Management, Kehinde AbdulGaniy said the purpose of the tourney is for pure competitiveness ahead of the upcoming NWFL season.
“Queens Cup is a strategic women’s football project designed to develop competitiveness among top women’s football clubs in Nigeria.
“Our vision is
to promote women’s football through football carnival for social development in Nigeria and, in extension, Africa.
“The aims and objective is to
chart the course of women’s football clubs in Nigeria, constitute a real force for the promotion of efficiency in women’s football
development and management.
AbdulGaniy added that “Part of our agenda is also to give the girls the opportunity to express their potentials through a football
challenge”
The Queens Cup (Southwest) tourney is proudly endorsed by the Lagos State FA and Lagos Sports Commission.
The tournament will kick off on Tuesday, 24th November 2020, and teams are expected to arrive on 23rd November.
The venue is the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos
