International Boxer Promoter Enjoins Sports Ministry Commitment To Boxing As A Viable Weapon Of Job Creation, Youths Development

Ike Enwereuzor, popularly known as Jack Boxer, who has being a promoter for over 20 years now in the United States with his company, Jack boxer promotions looking to groom young talents to help them become world champions has called on the sports ministry to embrace boxing and see to its development in the county as it is a massive tool for economic development and youth empowerment.

In an exclusive interview with sports247.ng, he questioned the acceptance and development of the sport in Nigeria as it is erroneously believed that boxing is meant for touts and those who are irresponsible.

Ike said, “Is Nigeria really taking care of this game as it is known for, gold or diamond? I don’t think so but we are here and I know there is many of you out there that really want to see this game change for the betterment of the youths being the highest-paid sport in the world where somebody like Floyd Mayweather making hundred and fifty million dollars in a night, one fight which Messi doesn’t make in one football game same as Ronaldo, then you are looking at the highest-paid sport.

“Nigerians need to embrace this sport, big business. Some of the guys out there that also promote need to come out and really improve the game in Nigeria,” he charged.

“This sport can also create employment for the youths, so we need to engage the youth to be involved because this can change their lives and put food on their tables because they can be the next big stars in Nigeria and make we Nigerians proud, it’s very important then we embrace and change this game and we are ready to change Nigeria if you look at some of these boxers who have the talent but are lacking the support so Jack Boxer promotions job is to come out there, find you and if you have what it takes, we will make u a superstar,” he assured.

  1. Sir we need more voice from you in this issue. Nigeria has killed a lot of athletes and demoralized the spirit of our upcoming fighters. If not for my passion for boxing I could have given up but when I remember my love and efforts I keep hold with my vision. Here there is no medical attention, we treat ourselves when we get injured, no financial support, no sponsorships, no facilities, everything we do it manually and raw hoping to get there someday. God bless you for your great efforts and voice you have rendered so far but we need more hands. Shalom 💪
