Wikki Tourists Technical Adviser Usman Abd’Allah has declared that the ambition of the club is to finish at ‘a very, very good position’ in the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League season which kicks off early next month.
The League Management Company last week released the schedule for the new session which gets under way on December 6 this year after delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a chat with SPORTSVILLE, Abd’Allah who joined the Giant Elephants on a rescue mission to save the Bauchi based team from relegation last season believes the focus of the team has now been re-calibrated for “a very top finish” in the 20-team championship.
“Just like every other club that have a target in the league we have our ambition but we want to finish at a very, very good position” he said.
To this end, the club spread its web and acquired some experienced players from top teams including Rangers International and Enyimba where the UEFA-licenced tactician earned the 2019 league title for the Aba-based side.
The France-based coach further explained that the club was able to seize the opportunity presented by the Governor Masari Pre-season tournament in Katsina to blend their new acquisitions with the young players ahead of the season.
He was full of appreciation to the state governor Bala Muhammed for the full attention and support the club receives as preparations hit a higher level.
Wikki Tourists who represented the country at 2017 CAF Confederation Cup will begin their campaign away at Nasarawa United before hosting Plateau United at the 25,000 capacity Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium on Matchday 2.
