The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has officially endorsed the Flying Officers Cup, scheduled to begin in Abuja on Monday, the 16th of November 2020.
The women football league body gave it’s backing to the foremost Nigeria women’s football Pre-season competition on Wednesday through a letter signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Faith Ben-Anuge.
In the letter of endorsement, Faith Ben-Anuge wrote: ” We kindly write to inform you of the NWFL board endorsement of the Flying Officers Cup Preseason Championship scheduled to hold from Monday, 16th of November at the Guards brigade Sporting Complex, Asokoro, Abuja.
“We task the organisers to ensure maximum compliance with guidelines on football activities as being explained by the Nigeria Football Federation.”
Reacting to the competition’s endorsement, Barrister Paul Edeh, the founder of Ratels Sports Foundation, thanked the NWFL for its support, while also noting that all COVID-19 guiding protocols will be fully observed at the Preseason Championship.
” The official endorsement by the NWFL, the body charged with overseeing the various Nigeria Women Football Leagues for this year’s edition is a testament that women football lovers should expect nothing but the best in terms of women football and we can only but pledge to abide by the rules of the game, in terms of officiating, players conduct and also abiding by the COVID-19 rules on and off the pitch,” Edeh said.
Eight teams across all tiers of the Nigeria Women Football Leagues are expected to participate in the competition.
The Flying Officers Cup formerly known as the Naija Ratels Pre-season Championship will kick off on Monday, the 16th of October 2020.
