Gateway United Resume Preseason Activities

Gateway United FC will kickstart preparations for 2020/21 Nigeria National League with a full training session at MKO Abiola stadium on Thursday 12th November, 2020.

All players are expected to report to training on or before tomorrow morning Thursday November 12th, 2020.

The team will also participate in the forthcoming Prince Dapo Abiola pre season tourney which will hold from November 16th – 23rd, 2020 in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

In a statement released after the club meeting with the management and head of the technical crew, held at the club secretariat, Kuto, Abeokuta, the Acting General Manager of the club, Mr Niyi Soleye said all is set for preseason activities in preparation for the 2020-21 NNL season which is expected to kick-off few weeks after the start of the Nigeria Professional Football League in December 6th.

He appreciated Ogun State governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for his continued support to the club amid Covid-19 pandemic.

“I use this medium to profoundly thank his excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun for his unalloyed support to the club. Despite the pandemic, the payment of salaries has been unabated and he meets every other need of the club.

“I acknowledge the efforts of the Commissioner also, Hon. Oluwadare Kehinde for ensuring the smooth running of the club. He ensures our requests are granted at any time of need and doesn’t hesitate to assist in any area”

“We also cannot but thank our supporters and fans for always keeping tabs but in line with the Covid-19 guidelines, our trainings or friendlies won’t be open for all except journalists. We will keep them abreast of the progress of the teams until the gates can be flung open”, he concluded.

The full training will commence on Thursday 12th November, 2020 at 8am and 3pm at the MKO Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta in accordance with the COVID-19 rules, while two friendly matches are in the offing for Friday 13th November, 2020.
