The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has lauded the admirable commitment and work of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) following his visit to the match Venue in Abuja for the Prudent Handball Premier League 2020.
This comes after the green light of the presidential task force on COVID-19, sports ministry to resume contact sports since its disruption earlier this year due to the Coronavirus outbreak across the globe.
Sunday Dare revered during an interview session, “It was exciting to see our athletes really getting it on again in Asaba, now coming back from Abuja and seeing these girls do what they know how to do best, it’s like being able to breathe again.”
“You know sports is life, sports means a lot to people both the players and the spectators so, am excited to see that contact sports is back, handball can have it’s league this year and as we look forward to the match on Friday between the Super Eagles and Sierra-Leonian team, then you know really, sports has opened up.”
Concerning the humanitarian gesture of Sokoto State Governor bus donation, he applauded, “I have sent a message personally to his excellency, the Governor of Sokoto State, Governor Tambuwal for the bus donation, it’s really timely when you look at the funds we have not just in sport but across the country. Whatever support you can get either from another government or from the private sector should be appreciated.”
“You know when it comes to sports apart from the equipment and the kit, a bus like this is also part of what you need to keep the spirit of the team moving together to move from one point to point two. We thank the governor and we hope that all the governors will do likewise not just for handball but for other sports,” he emphasized.
