Anaemena Ifeanyi scored his first goal in the colours of Rivers United at the Sharks Stadium.
The “Pride of Rivers” overcame a stubborn Ottasolo FC 1-0 in their second match of the pre-season tournament holding in Port Harcourt.
Anaemena scored United’s winning goal on 75th minutes when he displayed clamness as he expertly sent Korede Shodipo the wrong way from the penalty spot to ensure 3 points in the bag for the Stanley Eguma tutored side.
Speaking to Rivers United Digital after the match, the experienced defence marshal placed team success as a priority.
Hear him:
“It was very important for us to bounce back and get the win after our slow start in this tournament. The opportunity came for us to score from 12 yards, and I had to take that responsibility. I am happy to have gotten my first club in Rivers United’s colour but the win was more important”.
On his recipe for success, Anaemena had this to say …
“Hard work and commitment, stepping up our standards, putting up the never say never spirit and following acidiously the instructions of the coach. We have the manpower to achieve great things”.
Rivers United will take to the field in the Governor Nyesom Wike pre-season tournament when they confront Akwa United football club of Uyo at the Sharks Stadium Port Harcourt on Wednesday morning [4 pm kick-off].
