Ambitious Akwa United made a mistake at the tail end of the most anticipated cracker of the day as they conceded a goal after they had a good run in a 1-1 draw against Lobi Stars.
The first goal of the Promise Keepers came at 20 minutes which was from a free-kick as Ndifreke Effiong whipped a brilliant effort beyond Emmanuel Daniel. But Austine Ogunye gave Lobi Stars the equalizing goal with a rebound at 81 minutes.
“It was not a bad game we made a mistake and paid for it heavily. We maintained our line up because we wanted the boys to play together and gel well though we have other players as well which we will have their playing time as well,” Kennedy Boboye told Newsmen.
“We will be ready for the game against Rivers United FC which is our third game and I have told my players what to expect at this competition because I know it will be a tough one and we have to be ready for it.”
Akwa United will be playing against Rivers United in the Governor Wike Pre Season Tournament Group A battle on Monday.
