Sixty-one football teams in four Local Government Areas of Gombe South to know Qualifying Rounds opponent on Wednesday 4th November 2020 at the famous Jewel Hotel, Kaltungo.
Five Kaltungo LGA teams will qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament from the nineteen registered teams, four teams each from Balanga and Billiri LGAs and three teams from Shongom LGA will complete the number to sixteen.
Speaking to our correspondent from Abuja through a phone conversation, the chairman of the Technical Committee of the tournament Mr. Promise Uwaeme highlighted the events lineup for next Wednesday in Kaltungo.
“We will first inaugurate the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), proceed with Draws for each of the Local Government Areas Qualification Rounds, the Draws for the Finals as well and then take the Press Conference.”
“We are committed to ensuring that every process is transparent, meet international best practice and continue to uphold the standard of the tournament. We cannot and will not lower the standard for any reason despite the fact that we had to adjust the format of the tournament due to the COVID 19 pandemic that affected out calendar.”
Only the defending champions All Stars Football Club will be seeded in the group A1 slot of the Kaltungo LGA Qualification Round Group. Each team is expected to play at least two matches in their groups and the teams at the top of each group from all the LGAs will qualify for the finals which will be for the first time be played outside Kaltungo LGA.
“We are glad indeed that we had to expand to create room for Balanga LGA to join the tournament this year, imagine depriving 368 footballers and 112 officials the opportunity of participating in a tournament that is gradually becoming the biggest tournament in the whole of North Eastern Nigeria.”
The Draws will hold at the Jewel Hotel, Kaltungo on Wednesday 4th November 2020 by 11am.
