The Nigerian international was a second-half sub for K.R.C Genk and he provided the final pass for Patrik Hrosovsky to complete a comeback win for the away side.
The in-form Paul Onuachu had started ahead of his international teammate for the encounter away at K.A.A Gent’s Ghelamco Arena on matchday 10 of the Belgium Jupiler League.
Gent went ahead in the 24th minute through a Alessio Castro-Montes strike but was pegged back sixteen minutes later when Theo Bongonda found the back of the net from a Patrik Hrosovsky assist. The first half ended 1-1 with neither team able to go ahead before the break.
With 78 minutes on the clock and the score still, even, Cyriel Dessers was thrown into action in place of Onuachu. The forward made an instant impact by providing the game’s winning goal five minutes later on the 84th minute.
Genk held on to secure the maximum three points and move up to 8th on the league table with 16 points, 4 adrift of table-toppers Royal Antwerp. The next play host to KAS Eupen on Friday.
