It takes a good leader to acknowledge when things go wrong and seek for a lasting solution.
The General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club Rashid Balogun in an expository interview with Sunday Agunbiade and tobexSports in the monthly Sports World personality Show reveals the initial reason for the retrogression of Shooting stars into the lower league.
” I promoted Shooting stars to the NPFL and we were there for two seasons with the meager amount to run the club.
It was one of the reasons Gbenga Ogunbote popularly known as the Oracle left the club and that was the beginning of our problems. We could not get what we wanted to prosecute the league as the Govt of the day then were not focused on Sports”.
Balogun further explained that things have changed now and was reflected in the last season that was unfortunately canceled.
” We had good runs and were unbeatable. We are focused on the upcoming season and the continuity of players was not ignored.
All players have reported except one and are poised for a good run for promotion in the upcoming season”.
The General Manager also reiterated that players of all clubs were always insured and the new season is not an exception.
” We will do ours from the state level and if the NNL insists on the central Insurance we will oblige.
No amount of Insurance is too much”. He concluded.
Shooting stars Sports Club were relegated in 2017 and the crew is doing everything possible to appease her fans by gaining promotion to the NPFL and taking her rightful position in the map of football in Nigeria.
