The General Manager of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Rasheed Balogun, on Thursday paid a visit to the Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, to commmiserate with His Excellency over the death of his mother, Mrs Abigail Makinde.
Immediately the news of the demise of the 80 year old mother of governor Makinde filtered in, the 3SC boss, accompanied by top management members of the team, including the Team Manager Dimeji Lawal, headed straight to the Ikolaba residence of the governor.
The duo were part of the early callers, including government functinaries and the associates of the givernor who stormed his residence to condole with him.
Reacting to the death of Mrs Abigail Makinde, the 3SC General Manager described it as a huge loss to His Excellency going by the closeness of the duo when she was alive.
“I know how close His Excellency was to his mother, the mother-son relationship that existed between them was so strong.
” When the news got to me, I knew the governor would be hard hit but I believe mama lived a good life and had gone to rest.
“His Excellency and every member of the family would have wished to see mama live more years but if that is the way God ordained it, who are we to question Him”, stated Balogun.
“On behalf of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) family, I register my heartfelt condolence to His Excellency as well as the entire family and the good people of Oyo State over mama Makinde’s death.
“It is our prayer that God in His infinite mercy, will grant her eternal rest and will also give our governor and the entire family the fortitude to bear the huge loss”.
