The former Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I, Adebanji Gbeleyi popularly known as Skibanj, has pledged to commit his resources to the development of sports in the constituency.
Gbeleyi said he has been sponsoring grassroots sport competitions for over five years, emphasising his zeal to double his effort in order to keep the young one engaged.
He explained that he established a football club, Skibanj FC, purposely to reduce the unemployment rate through football and to provide the financial back up to players who want to seek greener pastures abroad.
He said: “Some players have been able to move abroad through the tournaments I have sponsored. I am assuring football lovers at the grassroots that they should expect more competitions from me as my own little effort in keeping the youths engaged.
“I established my own football club to provide a platform for many youths to showcase their talents, make their dreams come true, and create a way of securing a professional contract abroad for them.
“At Skibanj FC, we have been able to secure professional contracts abroad for players in Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Russia who are all doing well.”
