Leaky Rangers Settles For Draw After Injuries to Key Nigerian Players As They Climb Top Of Scottish Table

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers were left to rue the absence of key Nigerian duo: Joe Aribo, veteran defender, Leon Balogun following their 2-2 draw against Hibernian as they go top of the Scottish Premiership table with just a point.

Rangers had gone so long without losing a goal in the SPFL Premiership, you began to wonder if they might find a vaccine for Covid-19 before it happened again.

Steven Gerrard’s team pitched up at Easter Road on the back of seven clean sheets in the league. Hamilton’s David Moyo was the last player to breach their defence in the SPFL away back in March and, since then, there’s been some understandable singing and dancing over records and history.

Yet, the longest run of Rangers clean sheets at the start of a season for 114 years always needed a bit of context.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard sees his side stretch their lead to a point at the top of the table but will still have to make do with Aribo’s absence who could be out for up to six months.
