The management of 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League Champions, Plateau United Football Club of Jos has debunked insinuations making the rounds in some conventional and social media platforms that its first-choice goalkeeper, Chinedu Anozie is stalling on a new contract.
Media Officer of the club, Albert Dakup, categorically confirmed that goalkeeper Anozie is still a player of the club as he signed a three-year contract with the team last year after joining from FC Ifeanyi Uba of Nnewi.
Dakup explained that the goalkeeper is not negotiating a new contract with the club as they count on him for a second NPFL title and the semi-final ticket of the CAF Champions League.
” Goalkeeper Awawa has been in Jos three weeks ago training hard on his own in order to stay fit ahead of the resumption of football which was put on hold due to Coronavirus pandemic”
” The former Mighty Jets of Jos safe hands is comfortable with his current contract is not planning to live the club any time soon due to contractual issues”
The statement advised the media to always cross-check their facts before going to the press in order not to mislead the unsuspecting members of the public with fake news.
Plateau United Football Club has so far signed eight players to fortify the team ahead of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL and the CAF Champions League after dropping seven players who were deemed surplus to requirements.
