Anthony Joshua is having more cupping treatment after once again being called out by Tyson Fury with the pair having earlier revealed that they had “agreed” two fights for 2021 – but there appear to be lots to do with financial negotiations and getting dates sorted.
During the treatment, a therapist puts special cups on their client’s skin and leaves them on for a few minutes – to create suction. When done properly, it has many benefits – including helping to ease pain and inflammation; increase blood flow, relaxation, and well-being; aid detox; and provide a deep-tissue massage.
Joshua is scheduled to defend his WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight titles against Kubrat Pulev in December as he will be hoping to avoid any shock defeat to hopefully set up the Battle of Britain against Fury.
Speaking to BT Sport about the potential showdown against Joshua, Fury said: “Eddie Hearn was trying to protect Joshua, trying to put a hurdle in the way with Whyte, the biggest fight out there now is me and Joshua, so let’s make it happen.”
“Stop running away, stop making excuses, put your nuts in your handbag, and let’s fight. All these boxers, Joshua, Whyte, Chisora, Povetkin, all around the same level. They can take each other out.”
“As for Whyte getting knocked out – regroup, back to the drawing board. It just shows what level they’re at. Povetkin is 40 years old.”
Povetkin won the WBC Diamond belt for his stunning fifth-round KO of Whyte on Saturday. But Fury seems intent on setting up the mouthwatering AJ scrap as a priority over a title defense against the Russian and Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum says that fight will take place ‘without any obstacles’ if AJ beats Pulev and Gypsy King downs Wilder.
