Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has revealed that another strong point he is holding unto in his expectations for victory against South Africa on Saturday is that his players are hugely motivated to get maximum points.
Rohr said on arrival at Johannesburg Airport in the early hours of Friday that, though he is in town with a largely youthful squad, he expects the lads to catch their hosts unawares with innovations not seen before.
Sports247.ng can further report that Rohr is happy that many of the lads will play against South Africa for the first time in their careers, which provides an avenue for variety and the urge to make a difference.
The Franco-German tactician is now hoping that all these points will play out in favour of the Eagles in Saturday’s penultimate AFCON 2019 qualifier, which he believes will be a very difficult game for his side.
Rohr reasoned further: “This will be the most difficult match for this young team. It’s more than a year since we played against South Africa and lost in Uyo.
“It’s a different team now with the experience of the World Cup and my young team will do a good match even if we’re missing four important players especially our goal scorer and goalkeeper.
“This young team can do very well, they have big motivation and we want to win.
“It’s an opportunity for them to step up and prove what they can do. They will fight and give their best.”
