President of the Nigeria Olympic committee Habu Gumel has called on all sports federations in the country to take a leave from the Basketball and Volleyball federations and start organizing leagues for the fast development of the various sports in the country.
Gumel who was the immediate past president of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation has praised his successor engineer Musa Nimrod for improving the sport in less than 18 months after taking the reins at the federation where athletes have attended tournaments and also the introduction of a zonal league system.
The Nigeria Basketball federation also received its due accolades for the successful hosting of different leagues in the country in both the men and women categories and also hosting two different editions of the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Lagos.
The international Olympic Committee council member gave this advice in Abuja on the backdrop of a successful organization of this season’s volleyball premier league adding that the NOC will continue to support any federation in their quest to develop their respective sports in any capacity necessary.
