President of the Nigeria Hockey Federation, Senator Abdul Ningi has expressed dismay with the dilapidation state of the Nigeria Hockey Pitch inside the package B of the Abuja National Stadium.

The senator while speaking to Sports247.ng noted that quite a number of times he has witnessed marriage ceremonies taking place on the pitch.
“The Hockey Pitch at the Abuja National Stadium is in a sorry state. It’s a shock that such monument has been allowed to decay,” Senator Abdul Ningi remarked in a chat with Sports247.ng.
“We can’t organize a big tournament at the Hockey Pitch because of the dilapidated situation of the facility.”
“To make matters worst marriage ceremonies do take place at the edifice. It’s a sports facility and not an event centre.”
Senator Abdul Nengi recalled that he has called the attention of the Ministry of Youths and Sports to address the issue.
“The attention of the Ministry of Youths and Sports has been drawn to this problem because it is something the needs quick attention. Appropriate measures should be put in place to maintain the facility and put it into good use.”
